The Nutcracker Ballet at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre; building our candy houses; dancing like snowflakes; making sparkly poinsettias, wrapping paper and snowflake ornaments; and creating wintery landscapes. . . . brrrrr !!
. . . . .
Early in December The Firsties and I printed our names on scraps of paper, put them in a bucket, and drew the name of the classmate we would create a handmade gift for. We watched and listened for clues, then over the three weeks, crafted a beautiful gift especially for our person. On the last day of school, we wore our jammies, and shared our stories and gifts with each other. Our classroom was filled with joy and laughter!
The story . . . . A homeless man named Ryan, that some of us knew, died. We felt sad. We wanted to help other homeless people. We made some clay hearts to sell at the Fall Craft Fair. We will give our money to The Surrey Homelessness Society. They will make sure that it helps homeless people.
In October 2014, Ms. Bentley and the Fine Arts Firsties 2013-14 were named Heroes to the Homeless by the City of Surrey, for the money raised at the 2013 Fall Fair. $970 was donated. Our goal this year is $1000. Thank you for helping us with our community work. We care about others, and have used our creativity to help make change happen. Love from The Firsties The beautiful peeps danced their loving hearts out at the district dance festival this week. They have worked so hard to make this dance appear as gentle and soft as a first snowfall. Each time we performed it earlier this year, it snowed! Peep Power! Breath-taking and lovely! Thank you sweet peeps for your commitment to our creative projects! Ms. B hearts you!
